It is labeled for topical use on intact skin according to the insert — not for oral use, not for mucous membranes, and not a substitute for wound care or a clinic visit. How to pick a warehouse

Name & presentation
Generic name: Yunnan Baiyao Aerosol Spray . Often sold as a two-can kit: the main aerosol plus an “insurance liquid” aerosol for heavier closed soft-tissue injury patterns named on the leaflet.
This is not Jiaonang and not powder. It is a pressurized topical product that contains alcohol on Group labeling.
What the insert is traditionally used for
Labeled patterns commonly include invigorating blood, dispersing stasis, reducing swelling, and relieving pain — for traumatic injury, bruising and swelling, muscle ache, and rheumatic pain categories listed on the carton.
It does not replace imaging, wound care, or a clinic for open or infected injuries.
How to use (carton schedule)
- External use only: spray onto the affected area.
- Main aerosol: typically 3–5 times daily as the insert states.
- Heavier closed traumatic injury: many leaflets say spray the insurance liquid first; if severe pain persists, a second spray may be allowed after 1–2 minutes, not more than three times in one day; wait about 3 minutes, then use the main aerosol.
- Shake first. Hold the nozzle about 5–10 cm from skin. Limit each burst to about 3–5 seconds to reduce frostbite risk.
- Do not massage or rub after spraying (common insert note). Keep cans upright for use and storage.
Contraindications
- Pregnancy: do not use.
- Alcohol allergy or Yunnan Baiyao allergy: do not use.
- Broken, ulcerated, or pus-filled skin/mucosa: do not use.
- Do not take by mouth. Do not spray into eyes, mouth, or nose. Wash hands after use.
Precautions & storage
- Keep away from open flame and heat; store cool. Aerosols are flammable.
- Self-directed use is often limited to about 7 days on Group leaflets — ask a clinician if you need longer.
- Do not use over large areas or for long continuous courses without advice.
- Because the product contains alcohol, many inserts warn against combining use with certain cephalosporins, metronidazole, and related drugs — ask a pharmacist if you take those medicines.
- Children, elderly, heart disease, ulcer disease, or menstrual-period use: clinician guidance.
